Improving summer nutrition with Luvo Flipped Bowls

Nutrition is my fitness Achilles heel. While I know what I should I eat, I seem to fall short in the execution department. My biggest issue is meal prep, especially on busy days. Luvo (https://shop.luvoinc.com/collections/flipped-bowls) has made nutrition easy and interesting with their new flipped bowls. I have tried other Luvo meals in the past and have enjoyed them. The flipped bowls are low calorie spin on some traditional entrees.

The bowls are available in four different meals and I had the opportunity to test them all. My favorite reviews are the ones in which I get to serve as a food critic. All the bowls included whole wheat pasta and chicken meatballs. I don't eat pasta or chicken meatballs often so it was fun to try the new meals.

Chicken Meatballs in Creamy Pesto Sauce

Serving size: 234 g

Calories: 300 cals

The recommended cooking time for this bowl was 3.5-4 min. I cooked it for 3.5 min and the noodles were a bit firm (should have cooked a little longer). The pesto sauce was delicious and green. I rarely eat pesto so the green was a new and interesting experience. I also liked the squash and the beans to round out the pasta and meatballs. The meatballs were good and if the label had not identified them as chicken, I wouldn't have known.

Chicken Meatballs in Garlic Wine Sauce

Serving size: 241 g

Calories:300 cals

I cooked the bowl for 3.5 min and the noodles were perfect. The bowl was flavorful and well seasoned. All the components (beans, meatballs, and greens) were in harmony. My only criticism is that there was barely any cheese. If it wasn't advertised on the package, I would have barely noticed.

Chicken Meatballs in Stroganoff Sauce

Serving size: 241 g

Calories:300 cals

The 3.5 min cooking time was perfect for this bowl. This was my second favorite bowl out the bunch. It was flavorful and I like that it was beanless (I do like eating beans!). I like that was the different than the two previous bows and included mushrooms and kale. Before this review, I can't remember the last time I had stroganoff. It was a nice reminder of the sauce's flavor.

Chicken Meatballs in Tomato Basil Sauce

Serving size: 234 g

Calories:340 cals

This bowl was my absolute favorite of the four. I love tomato-based sauces, so this bowl was right up my alley. The 3.5 min cooking time was perfect. My only criticisms are it was a bit under seasoned and the cheese was very light. I still enjoyed the bowl and plan to eat more of it in the future.

The Verdict

I enjoyed all the bowls and I plan to add the chicken meatballs in tomato basil sauce bowl to my diet. My goal is keep working on my nutrition so I can unlock my best potential as a runner.
