Running in Georgia in the summer is a hot and humid journey. Staying cool is the number one priority. While I work hard to keep my body cool, I rarely think about my hydration. Testing the Amphipod Hydraform 12 oz Chiller (https://amphipod.com/hydraform-chiller/) was perfect timing for summer running and training for the Peachtree Road Race.
The Amphipod Hydraform Chiller is system that designed to keep your drink cool during the run. Nothing is more refreshing than drinking cold liquids during a hot run. The way it works is that you place the bottle in the triple insulated sleeve and leave in the freezer for 3+ hours. After chilling the bottle, add cold liquid and off you go. I used the bottle to keep my Ultima for training runs and for the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th. The liquid stayed cool during my run. My hands were a bit cool from holding the bottle.
My Thoughts
I like the idea behind the system since a cold liquid is much appreciated during a long run. Since I drank the liquid quickly due to the heat, so I only had one instance of having liquids over 30 minutes. I am not sure if the liquid would remain cold for half marathon or longer distance (I need to try the larger size). I think the system can be improved by adding a strap at the bottle of the bottle. As I was running, sometimes I would push the bottle out of the sleave.
Overall I like the Amphipod Hydraform Chiller and I plan to continue using it this summer for all my runs. Interested? Check it out here.
