Ok, so I am the biggest skeptic of virtual races. Honestly, I don’t understand the concept of paying for a run that I would do anyway for free. I know the same can be said about an organized race, but at least it is organized. I also have an issue with there being no accountability for the runners. Despite how I feel, I decided to register for this year’s Black Run Virtual Race Series. I was mostly motivated by the medals that will be awarded for each run. There are three options for the races: 5k, 10k, and half marathon. They all have the same registration cost, but will have a different ribbon for the medal indicating the run distance. Since I am in the midst of Publix Half Marathon training, I decided to sign up for the half marathon. It was the cheapest half marathon I ever sign up to run. I used the Publix training run as the race. The race felt real since I was part of corporate run. Overall I enjoyed the experience and I can’t wait to collect the remaining medals in the series.
