Last week I received a pair of Plantronics Backbeat Fit wireless headphones to evaluate as a BibRave Pro. As someone who always uses wired headphones this was definitely a great upgrade. In the last blog post, I unpacked the product and stopped when I had to charge the headset. Since then, I have an opportunity to test them on the pavement, in the gym, and for phone calls. So let's get to business on the review.
The good
The headset is light and charges very quickly. It is easy to sync with my phone. I do not use my phone's bluetooth often, but the headset connects quickly when I am ready to use it. I like the voice that tells you about the connection status and battery life when it is turned on.
The headset fits nicely in my ears and does not slip out. The ear pieces can be adjusted as needed. The band in the back doesn’t pose a problem during a run or workout.
The play and phone controls on the headset are easy to use. Answering a call and starting/pausing music is as simple as pushing the button. The headset also has great range. I was able to walk nearly across a large gym before the reception faded.
Plantronics offers apps that you can use with the headset. I downloaded the Find MyHeadset app. It sends a signal to your headset so that you can find it. When the headset is in use, the app displays the battery percentage on your device.
Challenges
While the volume can be controlled from the headset, I found it difficult to use this feature. I used my phone to adjust the volume.
The Verdict
Overall they are great headphones and I have enjoyed testing them. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to break free from wires and ill-fitting headphones.
