As I mentioned in an earlier post, shades are not usually part of my running gear. However living in the south has made me start to think about providing better UV protection for my eyes. Just like shoes, it is nice to have more than one pair/brand of shades to use while running to prevent the products from wearing out at the most inopportune moment. One pair I am considering add to my gear are the XX2i USA 1 sunglasses (http://www.xx2i.com/collections/usa1). So how do they add up?
The packaging
The shades come in a zipper enclosed hard case that has cushioning foam inside to protect the shades. A soft fabric draw string case is also included that can be used to store your glasses on the go to prevent scratching the lens. It comes with two additional nose pieces and a mini screw driver to install them. Two extra handles are included that have different styles to fit any preference. A strap is included too.
The fit
The shades fit well and comfortable. They are also stylish and don’t fall off when running. They protect your eyes while running in the bright sunlight without the lens being too dark. What’s also interesting is that the glasses help decrease the intense of computer and TV lights. This is useful for those who work at a computer all day and worry about eye strain. I cannot measure their true UV blocking claims, so I cannot comment on that feature.
The verdict
As the weather transitions from cool to very hot, I will add these shades to my gear arsenal. In the south we have high UV index summers and I want to protect my eyes at all times. I also want to look good while I am doing it. (
