Dopey Challenge: Getting to Dopey

Now that I finally recovered mentally and physically from the 2016 Dopey Challenge I can write about my experience.

My journey to the Dopey Challenge started with energy, stalled with an injury (stress fracture), and ended joyfully. After 10 weeks of training for Dopey, it was off to Orlando for the challenge. I flew down to Orlando. Prior to the race, I also booked hotel arrangements with runDisney, which I highly recommend. Staying on property is best if you don't have a car or do not want to get caught up in traffic for the race. As part of the hotel package you get Magic Bands for everyone in the room, which is your on arm currency, and free transportation to the Disney parks.

Hotel

Disney has many options for hotels depending on your budget. I stayed at Pop Century, which is considered to be a budget hotel. Don't let the lower tier fool you. The hotel was amazing! Disney pays close attention to detail from the soap to the props around the property. Pop Century pays homage to the decades of 1950-1990s. It was nostalgic to see the props throughout the property. There was also an onsite cafeteria, pools, and a laundry room. The room included a small refrigerator. I would stay at this resort on my next visit to Disney.
