This is my second pair of 2XU compression pants. I was very pleased with the first pair so I knew that the hyoptiks (http://www.2xu.com/us/women/collections/hyoptik/) wouldn't disappoint. I was right on that thought. So how do these pants compare to the regular compression pants?
The Fit
The 2XU thermal hypotik pants not only offers the power of compression, but also has the added thermal protection from the cold. Another feature about these pants is that 2XU replaced the draw string in the pants with an elastic band. The new band is nice upgrade and makes them more comfortable than the regular compression pants. Just like the regular compression pants, they are easy to put on and take off. The pants has a silver pattern, which gives them a stylish edge.
Performance
While I did not have the privilage to run with these pants in the snow, they protected by legs from the cold Georgia weather. The thermal protection made me forget about the cold in my lower body (my upper body was a different story).
My greatest test of these pants was at the Walt Disney Marathon for the Dopey Challenge. They were awesome! I really needed the compression support to get through the race. My legs felt great and I am greatful that I ran in them. I didn't chafe on my thighs, which was a bonus. That race made me realize that compression is the truth!
The Verdict
2XU has sold me on compression pants and I will wear them for distances over 13 miles. It doesn't hurt that they make my thighs look skinnier too. These pants will be part of my running gear.
