This was my second year running the Big Peach Sizzler 10k on Labor Day. I represented Team Beef this year. This is a fun race that starts at the Chamblee Marta station and ends at the Buckhead Loop. I love running along Peachtree Street, especially for training. In addition to the 10k, this year the race organizers added a 5k. This race is small, but very well organized.
Packet pickup
Packet pickup was held for 3 days at 2 Big Peach locations. Race day pickup was also available. I picked up my shirt and bib from the Brookhaven location. Pickup was quick and easy. This year, the race offered different color shirts. I chose a green shirt to add to my running wardrobe.
Race Day
The 10k race started at the Chamblee Marta Station, which had tons of parking. The route is classic ATL. Peachtree Street has gentle rolling hills and there is plenty to see. The water stations were well managed with enthusathic volunteers. My friend and I had a great time counting down each mile as we passed through 3 cities and 2 counties for 1 awesome medal.
While I did not beat my time from last year, I did shave off one minute from this year's Peachtree time.
I am looking forward to supporting the Cystic Fibrosis foundation and running the race next year.
