Jeff Galloway's Barb's 5k

After 5 years, I am still a streaker for the Jeff Galloway's races. This year was the 5th anniversary of his race series. This year for the first time, I ran the Barb's 5k. Normally, I would have run the half marathon, but this year I paced the First Watch Locomotive Half on the same day. So how was my 5th Jeff Galloway weekend?

Expo

The expo was held at Hyatt Midtown. The expo was small and packet pick up was really quick. I was able to pick up my bib and our tee-shirts were available for pick up after the race. My biggest issue with the Jeff Galloway expos is that are always located at venues with limited parking. Thankfully, the hotel allowed me to quickly park my car out front and I ran in to get my packet. This year all streakers were given a Jeff Galloway blanket as a gift for our participation.

Race Day

It was cold and raining on race day. We parked at Ansley Mall and walked about a half mile to the start located off Piedmont Road near the Botanical Gardens. Majority of the race was in Piedmont Park. I ran through a few puddles, but overall it was a great race. I love watching everyone run their Galloway intervals. I finished in 32:15 and I am excited about my pace. I am slowly coming back to my 2015 pacing level.

I skipped the post race festivities because I had another event to attend. My run buddies said there were cookies and hot chocolate. I also forgot to pick up my shirt, but that was fine. Hopefully next year I will come back to run the half marathon or run the 2018 virtual race.
