Southside 12k-First race of 2019

On Saturday, January 12th, I ran the Southside 12k race hosted by the Atlanta Track Club. It was my first race of 2019. The race is part of the Grand Prix series that is held each year. The registration was free for Atlanta Track Club members.

The Southside 12k was held at Wolf Creek Amphitheater in College Park. Parking was free and plentiful. My favorite perk of small Atlanta Track Club races is race day packet pick up. Thanks to the wonderful volunteers, packet pickup was quick and easy.

The looped course was classic ATL running (up the hill, down the hill). There wasn't much to see and a little crowd support. Lack of crowd support and the scenery was not a deal breaker. Overall, I like the race and I finished in 1:23:57. I claimed my results in Athlinks to add my running resume. It was great training run for the Savannah Women's Half Marathon in April. I plan to continue to work on my pace for the rest of the training season.
