According to the UN Refugee Agency (https://www.unhcr.org/en-us/figures-at-a-glance.html) there are over 70 million people who are forcibly displaced worldwide. Out of that figure, almost 26 million of the are refugees. To put that number is prospective, the number of refugees a bit larger than the entire population of Florida (pop 21 million people). The thought of being displaced from home for any reason is almost too hard to imagine.

Everyday that I step on the pavement, I try to run with a purpose. Participating in the 2019 World Refugee Day Virtual 5k (https://www.worldrefugeeday5k.com/) was great way to run with a purpose. I chose my official Black Girls Run weekly run to for the virtual 5k. We ran through my neighborhood in the morning to beat the heat. It was a great run and I am grateful to help raise awareness of the plight of refugees.
