This summer has been a scorcher. I started training for Rock 'n' Roll Savannah in July and heat has made every mile difficult. One way to mix up my training was to participate in the NYRR Virtual World Championship 5k. The New York Road Runners (www.nyrr.org) is the same organization that hosts the New York City Marathon.

I ran the 5k on Aug 16 and it was quite an adventure. I ran in Oakhurst, my favorite area in Decatur. I visited my friend's home along the route and ran a few loops to get my miles in. I had a great post race breakfast celebration at Chick Fil A. The weather was perfect and I also had the day off. Overall I had fun running in my neighborhood without the stress of getting ready and traveling for race day. I improved my pace during the run and I am slowly getting stronger and faster every day.

After the race, I synced my data to Strava so the results would be counted. Each registered runner's data was synced and ranked. I was number 6000+, but I had a great time during my run.
