In 2016 I was introduced to Gatorade Endurance during the New York City Marathon. At my first sip at mile 1 it was match made on the pavement. Since 2016, I have had the opportunity to use Gatorade Endurance products to train for various races.
This year, I participated in a Gatorade Endurance campaign to achieve my goal of running a sub 2 half marathon. I chose Rock 'n' Roll Savannah as my target race for the goal. Our friends at Gatorade sent gels and hydration products to support my training efforts.

Training for the Rock 'n' Roll Savannah kicked off in early August. I trained in the morning since the temperatures were 90+ degrees in the afternoon during my normal running time. My pace was in the 12 min/mile range, I worked to decrease my pace. I continued to run in the mornings until September using mixture of my Garmin's training plan and the Atlanta Marathon Training plan. In September, I transition to running in the evenings, even though some runs were cancelled due to the heat. During my training, I used the Gatorade Endurance drink during all runs. I like the flavor especially during the hot runs.
The 90+ degree heat continued until mid October so my weekly runs didn't pan out like they could have. Looking back, I wish I had just kept running the morning or trained on the treadmill.
While I didn't meet the sub 2 half marathon goal in Savannah, I think my efforts were a great start. I plan to continue to work on my diet and running quality training runs so that I can achieve my ongoing sub 2 half marathon goal in the future.
