Now that I finally recovered from my bug, I can write about some of my December races. On December 14 I ran the Jeff Galloway Barb's 5k. I am a streaker for the Jeff Galloway race weekend (6 years strong). Up to two years ago, I only ran the half marathon. This year, I paced the Locomotive Half Marathon on Dec 15 and it conflicted with the JG 13.1 race that was the same day. While I usually do not run 5k races, I really enjoyed the Barb's 5k.

Packet Pick Up

Packet pick up was at Phidippides located in Ansley Mall. Pick up was quick and there were snacks and items for sale. Another great thing about Ansley mall is there is tons of free parking. The only thing I don't like about this race is that runners have to return to the store after the race to pick up your shirt. I wish we got the bib and shirt at the same time.

Race Day

The race started at 8 am about a half mile from Ansley Mall. We parked at the mall and walked to the start, which was near Piedmont Park. Majority of the course was in Piedmont Park. I was dealing with a bug so it wasn't my best time, but I finished upright. We were awarded a medal at the finish. After the race, I walked back to Phidippides to get my shirt and snacks.

Overall,I enjoyed Barb's 5k and will probably run it next year to keep my streaker status. Depending on my run schedule, I may also run the JG 13.1 race.
