Rock 'n' Roll Savannah: A story of cancellations

This month we were notified that Rock 'n' Roll Savannah is cancelled due to the City of Savannah not renewing their contract. I am sad because I have been training to attempt a sub 2 hour half marathon at the race. As I reflected on the cancellation, I thought how an initial cancellation brought me to the Rock 'n' Roll Savannah race in 2014.

In 2014, I registered for the Atlanta Marathon. Due to low attendance the marathon was cancelled (it was later replaced with the 10 Miler). The race gave us the option to transfer our registration to the Rock 'n' Roll Savannah marathon. As a result I ran my first marathon in Savannah. My time was much faster than running in Atlanta and to this date is my fastest marathon.

After 2014, I ran the Rock' n' Roll Savannah half marathon for a few years. Savannah is one my favorite running destinations. It is a short drive and flat. As fate would have it a cancellation, ended my Rock 'n' Roll Savannah journey. Thankfully we have the option to receive a refund or transfer to another Rock 'n' Roll race. I am not sure what I will do, but I a thinking about running Rock 'n' Roll Vegas.

Goodbye Rock 'n' Roll Savannah, we will miss you...
