Updated: Jan 3, 2021

As I have written in my past blog posts, the 2020 Publix Savannah Half Marathon was previously scheduled in March was rescheduled to November, but due to the current situation, it was eventually converted to a virtual race.

I killed virtual three races with one run. I ran the virtual half marathon on October 24 with two other virtual half marathons. My time was 2:52:58. It was a fun route from my home to Little Five Points. It wasn't my best time, but my worn out shoes got the best of me at mile 8 and it was a slow run to the finish. My next half marathon will be better. I also bought new shoes.

As a bonus, I also ran the virtual 5k unofficially on November 21. I was not registered for that distance, but thought it would be fun to run. My 5k time was 35:57.

I am looking forward to my race medal and swag for an upcoming Medal Monday. I am registered for the 2021 race and I am looking forward to running in Savannah next year. I am still working on my sub 2 hour half marathon goal.

Update (1/3/21)-Swag Alert

I received my swag while I was away on vacation in December. I received a medal, bib, race bag, fanny pack, and a metal reusable straw.

Overall the virtual race was a fun experience. While I missed running in Savannah in 2020, I was grateful to be able to earn a medal for the race. I would like to thank the race officials for all the race communication. They kept the runners with updates from the initial rescheduling of the race from March to November and then when it was converted to a virtual event. My only criticism of the race is that they only send your race items if you submit a finishing time. Since people already paid their registration fees, the items should have been sent automatically unless they deferred or cancelled their registration.
